Special Masters

Former Judges Prepared to Serve as Special Masters

LRC's former judges are available for appointment as special masters in on-going litigation. Special masters are appointed by a judge, with the agreement of the parties, to assist in hearing and resolving detailed matters that the assigned judge does not have time to handle. For more information concerning special master services, contact Legal Resolution Center.

ADA Hearings

When the class action lawsuit brought against the Colorado Department of Corrections under the Americans with Disabilities Act was settled, Judge Edward Nottingham and Judge John Kane appointed Judges Pringle, Davidson, and Borchers to handle the claim process established by the settlement. Over 1,500 claims have been filed and adjudicated since early 2004. LRC staff handled the processing of claims from start to finish.

Commercial and Personal Injury Disputes

Other hearings involving special masters supplied by Legal Resolution Center have concerned commercial disputes and personal injury cases.

Former judges at the Legal Resolution Center (LRC) provide mediation and arbitration in the Denver area (including Cherry Creek and the DTC — Denver Tech Center), throughout Colorado and neighboring Rocky Mountain states, and beyond (including Wyoming, Nebraska and Minnesota), serving communities including Boulder, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Fort Collins, Greeley, Cheyenne, Omaha, Salt Lake City and Minneapolis; and counties including Douglas County, Arapahoe County, Denver County, Jefferson County, Adams County, Boulder County, Larimer County and Weld County.
