Bruce D. Pringle was born and raised in Colorado. He attended the University of Colorado and graduated in 1966. He then attended the University of Colorado School of Law and graduated first in his class in 1969. He was managing editor of the University of Colorado Law Review.

After graduation from law school, Judge Pringle worked as a law clerk for Judge William Doyle of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. In 1970, he left that position and went into private practice where he was heavily involved in litigation. Judge Pringle worked in the areas of products liability, wrongful death, corporate, construction, legal malpractice, employment, libel and slander, antitrust, securities fraud, eminent domain, all aspects of commercial law, and white collar criminal defense.

Judge Pringle left private practice in 1991 when he was appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge by the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He remained in that position until January 17, 2001 when he left to return to private practice. Judge Pringle resumed work in the area of commercial litigation.

Judge Pringle also has taught extensively at numerous seminars over the past twenty years. He is the author of Colorado Law Annotated which is a seven-volume treatise on Colorado law published by Bancroft-Whitney Corporation.
